Creating a visual identity for a high-stakes election
For the special edition layout of the Daily Pennsylvanian’s 2024 Primary Election Voter Guide, our aim was to visually capture the essence of this high-profile, high-stakes election.
establishing a visual language
A red, white, and blue flag reframed
The visual package stands as a homage to the American flag’s familiar geometry. While the colors are flipped, the editorial package makes a reference to the American identity.
A reimagined canton
The drop cap mirrors the blue field of the American flag. Reimagined in red, it anchors the layout and sets the tone for a modern interpretation of national imagery.
A reference to the 13 stripes
The block quote takes inspiration from the flag’s stripes. Blue lines replace red, creating a visual rhythm that ties text and symbolism together.
Special thanks to my team.
My vision wouldn’t have been possible without an amazing team. Insia, Janine, Katrina, and Makayla: for executing the vision beautifully. Sophia and Anish: for being the best buddies and great for bouncing ideas off of. Jared: for leading the issue with care.
